NCAS’ mission is to improve patient safety by bringing expertise to the resolution of concerns about professional practice and, in doing so, improve patient safety across the UK. Since we were founded in 2001 we have successfully assisted employers and contracting bodies in the management of 8,000 referrals across the UK. At any one time NCAS is working with over 50% of NHS organisations, and in any year about 75% make referrals to us.
NCAS services remain free at the point of access to NHS referrers in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and services continue to be provided to the States of Jersey and Guernsey, the Isle of Man, the independent health care sector, Defence Medical Services, the Medical Council of Ireland and the General Dental Council.
